Ask-I am Salt and Light

On this first day of 2021 there is so much to say. Today I officially began my ‘21 Day Daniel Fast for Financial Breakthrough’ and had an immediate experience that I wish to briefly share. I must first thank God for reminding me that I am both ‘salt’ and ‘light’ in this world as I represent His kingdom. This reminder was delivered through my pastor; Alan Alexander of Daybreak Assembly Tamarac, Florida in his New Years Eve message. I began to reflect on 2020 (and prior years) where I was and still is the ‘salt’ and ‘light’ to many souls challenged with Homelessness, Addiction, and Mental Health (HAM). I planted and watered seeds and God provided the increase.

But God was not done yet. He had a specific word for me which He revealed while still in bed. The word is ‘Ask’! This word ‘Ask’ struck my heart and exploded like fireworks in my Spirit. I immediately went to Webster 1828 dictionary and researched this great word, ‘Ask’. And then a ‘light’ went on when I saw that besides other meanings such as ‘to request, to seek to obtain by words, to petition….and then ‘claim’. I pondered on this word ‘Claim’! I was reminded of scripture verses. Specifically Matthew 7:7-7Ask and it will be given to you;….Matthew 21:22And whatever you ‘ask’ in prayer you will receive, if you have faith.James 1:6-7 But let him ‘ask’ in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed”. Then, James 4:3 “When you ‘ask’, you do not receive, because you ‘ask’ with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” Did you know that ‘Ask’ has been used 39 times in scripture?

So let’s talk about the word ‘claim’ in connection with ‘ask’. If one understands it and applies this powerful word it can change ones perspective of ‘asking’ and simultaneously change one’s life. God was not done yet; apparently He wanted to reinforce that I am still ‘salt’ and ‘light’. He had already given me the ‘light’ portion of it with my current ministry leading the unsaved to Christ. As one gets closer to God, we also discover that He has a sense of humor way beyond our comprehension. So, in compliance to the 21 Day Daniel Fast for Financial Breakthrough I went to Publix to purchase my ‘Daniel edibles’ for the day which included vegetables and fruit. As I began eating the vegetables in my mission field (my office), I realized that it was ‘saltless’ and remembered that word in Matthew 5: 13 which states, "You are the ‘salt’ of the earth. But if the ‘salt’ loses its ‘saltiness’ how can it be made ‘salty’ again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” I immediately went in search of ‘salt’, (keeping in mind all I want is just a sprinkle). As I walked out the door the first person I asked for ‘salt’ took me to his office. Not only was I offered a sprinkle of ‘salt’, but there was an abundance (an overflow) of ‘salt’ and I had to choose how much I wanted.

Let me park this plane. There it was, an example of the word ‘ask’ which also means ‘claim’. I ‘asked’ in ‘faith’ and I ‘claimed’ in abundance, Matthew 23:5 “My cup runneth over……. The lesson; well I am glad you ‘asked’, ‘Ask’ and ‘Claim’ at the same time. Moving forward remember ‘Claiming’ is the hinge that ‘Asking’ swings on.

Have a Blessed day in the Lord. You deserve it. Remember you are both ‘Salt and Light’ in this ‘saltless’ dark world.
